Our Herd
We have a herd
of over 95 goats. We have 40 fullblood and purebred boer does (including
2 full CODI/PCI does ). Our
14 percentage Boer Goats are
primarily Nubian/Boer crosses.
We
retain several doelings
each year for replacement does and
show stock. Our percentage
bucks are wethered and dehorned to
meet the show wether demand.
Occasionally, we will sell an
outstanding percentage buck kid as a
commercial buck. We keep only
our best fullblood buck kids as bucks (about
2 bucks each year out of 120+ kids) as we believe it is very
important to put only the best bucks
in the gene pool.
If you are interested in a commercial
buck, please contact us and we will
let you know if we have one that
meets your needs and our criteria to remain a buck.
All of
our Boer breeding stock is registered
with ABGA and a few are dual
registered with the USBGA and IBGA.
Purchase of any kid includes
the ABGA registration papers in hand when
the kids are picked up.
We do not sell on application to
register. We have also
accumulated a herd of 21 dairy
does, all
registered with the ADGA.
We have 16 Nubians and 6 Alpines. We did not intend to breed
dairy goats, but we have been asked
by many Boer buyers if we had any
Nubians for sale. We have two
nice ADGA registered spotted Nubian
bucks. We breed all our Nubian
and Alpine doelings to a Nubian buck
for their first kidding. We
also plan to start making cheese
later this year. So we will
occasionally have a several registered
Nubians for sale. We
breed most of the grown Nubians to our fullblood Boers to get
large framed percentage kids.
We have
several fullblood
Boer bucks
here at Deer Haven Farms. PFR
Show Stopper is an Ace son. He
puts bone and butt on everything
we've bred him to. A solid black purebred son of Bandit (DHFK
Illusion) that we have used this year on some of our percentage colored stock. We
also have a Bingo Superman son out of a Bingo daughter. This
young paint buck (DGBG Double Jeopardy) will be used in our colored program
and to improve the neck and head on some of our does.
We are
partners in a Ripper Son, AABG NBD
Good Looking. We have over 30
does bred to him due to kid the
first two weeks of March. We
are very excited about what he
brings to our herd.
We are very
pleased with the quality of kids we
have produced over the past five years and have an
outstanding group of kids available
for sale from our early spring kiddings. If you check out our Breeding
Info link to the left, you can click
on the name of each goat to see a
picture and pedigree. We will post
pictures of the kids as soon as we
can after they are born. Please
